5 Simple Ways to Elevate Your Outfit

5 Simple Ways to Elevate Your Outfit

1. Tucking your shirt

What was once primarily used by your college professor or wealthy uncle is now used by men across all generations. Tuck in an undershirt to achieve a more drastic and focal point, or an overshirt to keep the look more concealed and subtle. Regardless of how you rock it, this small style change can work across almost any outfit and is great for most occasions. (Toss on a belt with larger or colorful buckle to increase the effect).

2. Socks matter

The most overlooked garment in your wardrobe can actually be one of the most effective in tying together an outfit. Stripes and patterns can have a great effect on an outfit that primarily features plain solid colors. For the opposite effect, try matching a graphic design tee's main color with your socks and look in the mirror. (Just trust me). Considering shoe color can be important too, while keeping a similar rule with stripes with and designs combined with solid shoe colors, or base colors for shoes with a more exotic palette.

3. Jewelry

This one is probably the easiest to get started with and applies to even the most laid back and casual guys out there. Finding that piece of metal whether it be a chain, wristwatch, bracelet, ring or a combination, can instantly improve upon any outfit applied to. While each piece of jewelry can provide something different outfit to outfit, finding one to start with that's best for you is important. For your casual guys, a chain is easily tucked behind the shirt and pairs great with a button down. For the more fashion forward look, a solid black ring band will receive more attention and tie together almost any outfit.

4. Find your pants

Finding that perfect pair can feel like a near impossible mission. Right size, wrong color, or right fit, wrong material is a commonality for most guys. Khakis are some of the most versatile pants in terms of wearability as you can go casual to semi-formal pretty freely. If your day to day is a more dressed down look then denim can be a totally fine option as well. Stop what you're doing and drive to your nearest mall and try on every pair of everyday pants you can find. When you've got that pair that just feels great and naturally fits you, buy at least 3-4 colors. If they don't have that many options in store, buy what you can there and check their online site afterwards.

5. Loafers

Loafers have great wearability (especially in the summer) and are a must have for any gentlemen. Khakis, trousers, denim, socks, no socks, dressed-up, or casual, there's quite a broad range of what this simple shoe can do. Oh, also considering the convenience of slip on and off, and be careful because these can quickly become your new favorite shoe.
